I'm not sure I talk about movies too much on the blog. Last week was a big movie week for my son and I. I joined Blockbuster Online and it's pretty cool. If you know me, you'd know that it was very hard for me to quit renting from the local Family Video. Blockbuster lacks the beautiful women who cut my late fees in half each time I visit and use my corny humor. Here's how a normal visit goes:
BVL: Lau Susuga Karr, e $ 14.00 le tuai o lau pili
Mr.Karr: E matua aulelei oe! E iai sau uo tama?
BVL: (ataata) Uhhh… ioe.
Mr.Karr: Ia, a e vaʻai ia te ia i lenei po, ia e mautinoa e taʻu atu ia te ia o ia le tamaloa laki i luga ole Lalolagi.
BVL: (ataata atili, mumu mumu)
Mr.Karr: I'm sorry… you're so beautiful I didn't hear what you said!
BVL: Oh… you had some late fees but I tell you what, how about you pay them all tonight and I'll only charge half.
Mr.Karr: Wow… beautiful and generous. You're fantastic. Thanks!!!
Now what you don't see or hear in this entire episode are my kids. My son swiftly walks away as soon as we hit the counter – he knows what happens next. My daughter, on the other hand, likes to stay there and ask me for candy during my shtick. After I pay, she likes to tell the ladies how I do that everytime I come in, how old I am, how desperate I am, or simply how much gray hair I have. God love her!
Ui i lea!
Be sure to watch the full DVD with the additional features. The insight into how the movie was made and directed as well as the actors' labor to make this film are fascinating.
